I am developing locally with Access and working fine... when I transfer to a test site using SQL7 I seem to get errors when retrieveing records with memo fields... is there a diference between memo fields in Access and memo fields in SQL 7 ?

Any help or pointers appreciated.

Peter

Hi Peter.
As far as I remember, SQL 7 does not have a 'memo' data type. The equivalent data type to Access's 'memo' is 'text' in SQL Server. Not sure if this solves your problem though. Could you include a little more detail about your query and the error text that is returned?

no there is no 'memo' datatype.....

i was in a similiar situation, and we basically analyzed the requirements for each column and decided on the appropriate datatype to use....

varchar is much preferable than text because of overhead, but you are limited by the length (8000). Paul
