Is there a configuration file on Solaris (Sun e250) which allows me to force the monitor resolution to be 60Khz

Did you try to use this command :
ok> boot -r
You can detect your monitor.
Did you use Sun Monitor or other monitor ?

When setting modes for OBP via 'setenv output-device screen:????x???x??', the console resolution does not get set for the following:

1440x900x76
1024x768x85
1152x864x75
800x600x56,60,85
