Is root user required for Linux agent 11d?

I am responsible for backing up servers for several different groups at my company. I have been asked to backup a Linux (Fedora Core 4) server. I am using BackupExec 11d on a Windows 2003 server. It looks like the RALUS agent will only run when logged in as root. This seems to be against all best practices. Does anyone know of a way to backup using the RALUS agent with limited privledges?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Nope need root user rights. Or the user must belong to beoper group which is basically root rights
