I have now in my P3 533mhz the following:
2 hard disks
1 CD-drive
1 Floppy drive
3 3" fans (excluding 1 in PS)
2 CPU fans
1 1" HD fan
Is my 250watts PS underrated?

Not sure how much juice that is pulling, but I always use at least 300 watt PS on machines I'm building. 250 watts was enough back in the days of P1s, but not really anymore, IMHO.

250 is the minimum I would try with that, with all those fans you may want to get a better one. also some cdrw burners are picky with calibrations if you have lower end power supplies and lots of stuff...

but one thing is if it works then it works...

Boy you must be clocking big time to need all of those fans?
I know it's a rather crude test but can you hear any differance in fan tone as the machine starts to work? (when loading programs,or CDrom starts spinning)
This is a rough indicator that the PSU is nearing it's load limit.
Also bombing out! another obvious indicator. Martin
Just trying to help, sometimes falling short, I am only human after all.

Well... thanks for all your replies. SeemI have to observe it.
