Hi,

I have 100 machines that i look after on my network and i want to be able to find out what software they have installed at any paricular time.

So for example i want a server application and i give it the machine name/ip address and it returns all the software installed on that machine in XML format.

I want to be able to do this without making all the client machines web servers.

Is using a web service the correct approach or has anyone got any ideas of how i could do this?

Thanks for any help/advice in advance

Deleco

Take a look at SMS (Systems Management Server) from Microsoft. It has the ability to conduct software audits, as well as do remote installations of new software.
