Is it possible to map drive or browse UNC paths without a WINS server?

Thank you in advance.

I don't see how the UNC path would be translated to an IP without a WINS server, but I could be wrong.

If you have 2000 Clients and 2000 Servers with Active Directory Intergrated DNS it shouldn't be a problem.

Or if all of your clients and servers on a single subnet it would work with one of the machines becoming the master browser.

In small network with fixed IP addresses you can use LMHOSTS files.
