IS FASTCLI THE PROBLEM

I AM HAVING A TERRIBLE TIME WITH MY NOVELL 4.11 RUNNING ON A
DELL POWEREDGE 2500 MACHINE. THE ONLY THING THAT I ADDED WAS
THE FASTCLI PROGRAMS FROM NOVELL. THE NETWORK CLOSES
DOWN EVERY NIGHT BETWEEN 11:30 AND 1:00 PM. THE MESSAGE
I GET IS THAT IT IS HAVING TROUBLE WRITING TO THE TTS
BACKOUT FILE AND CONSOLE LOG BUT THIS IS BECAUSE THE
NETWORK HAS ALREADY SHUT DOWN. HAS ANYONE GOT
ANY SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE.

Check SYS:SYSTEM\ABEND.LOG to see if the server is crashing. The log file will have a lot of jargon in it but it should tell you when the server is crashing and what NLM is causing it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked the abend.log and the last entry
was on 7/6/2000. I run BackupExec at night and it seems to abend
after that. The console.log file contains a bunch of gibberish, the
sys$log.err file contains no error messages. I have unloaded
BackupExec and will not run it tonight and see if the system
abends. I did run FASTCLI on 6/7/2003 to do the battery recondition
and I thought maybe something happened then. This has been
an ongoing problem since the middle of August. I looked at a
copy of an old autoexec.ncf file and compared it to the currend
autoexec.ncf file and there was two statements on the old one
that read "unload scsi2tp.cdm" and "load nwaspi" which was not
on the current file.
