I have a customer that has an IPO Essential Edition version 11.1 with 250 IP telephones. But now he needs more than 384 IP telephones. So I need the server edition. Is that possible to migrate those licenses from Essential Edition to Server Edition ?

You could add a second CU for the additions with SCN as an alternative.

Hey rquiterio, John Tel is correct you could add another node and load some extension there, you still have the 384 limit per node so with tow nodes that would be 768 and then you could add another one and so one until the SCN limit of 2000. But you would also need networking (SCN licences) and its not exactly best practice or the intent of an SCN. You might have unforeseen impact depending on what feature you want to use.

On the other hand yes you can use any of the valid IP Offic V2 licences on server edition you just obtain the server edition licences and activate them all to the server host. Be aware the essential edition "voice mail port" licences are not valid on server edition. IF you have 6 ports of essential voicemail these won't come across and you will only have 2 with the server edition. If you have a secondary server node that would give you another 2 ports of voicemail. There are other licences that are not valid on server edition, e.g Mobile worker and Teleworker.

Like Mike pointed out, the Voicemail channel quantity on base SE sucks, especially when migrating from a Preferred Edition to SE, where you lose 2 channels. The license for an extra 2 channels is not cheap.

You can get two SE licenses and add the existing chassis to the new SE solution. This will give you two more VM Channels and you can connect any analog extensions or trunks to the IP500 if needed

While the extra VM channels aren't cheap, they're cheaper than another SE license and way less complex to implement.
