Anyone out there have any suggestions for installation and programming training for Avaya IP office...
I know the large distributers have hands on classes, usually a week. and somewhat expensive...
I'm very familiar with Partner thru Definity installation and programming..36 years as a Lucent tech..But IPO was not out yet when I left..Just want to be prepared for the time one of my customers sees a need for an upgrade..
Any home study CD's or installation manuals reasonably priced out there?..Or if a sit down class is the best way, who do you recommend from experience...
Thanks

Upstate New York...South of Albany..3 hours north of New York City...

I would first suggest downloading the IP Office Documents CD from Avaya's website (its free). It gives pretty good details on installing as well as programming. Of course nothing can compare to classroom and hands on training, but the Docs CD is still a pretty good place to start getting some knowledge.

As far as classroom training, Catalyst Telecom gives a pretty good course. They have a course called IP Office boot camp I believe it is. Its about a week long and goes over everything except the advanced apllications. They have locations all over the US and I believe they have one in NJ, not sure about upstate NY. If I remember correctly the class I believe is about $1500 or $1600.

And last, but definitely not least, keep reading the posts here. The members here can provide an enormous amount of knowledge just by following the posts and learning from others experiences.

It sounds like you have a solid telcom background. Instead of paying the $$ for a class. Buy a system and whack at it.

You dont get a peice of paper but you would have the hands on and a lab

highpointrich, I have a similiar backround as you, and after the first layoffs last year I started with a BP (I know I know but I need a paycheck), you would be fine just getting the classes at AU and if you can get a system that would be even better, the programming was the most confusing thing to me when I first started with them, connectivity is straight forward sort of like a partner system

Advice well taken....
MANY THANKS !!! to all of you for the response and input...
