Has anyone successfully setup an asterisk win32 or unix h323 trunking to an IPO ? I am having some issues doing so. If anyone has some examples of h323.config, extention.config and sip.config it would be very helpful. Thanks for any assistance.
It works really bad using G711, I bought some G729 licences from digium and it started to work well.
Using G711 I was getting a choppy voice and I found no way to make it work properly.
Here's the steps I did :
-Install asterisk
-Install OpenH323 along with pwlib, lzo and asterisk-openh323 (read the h323 documentation I think it depend on a specific versions of pwlib)
-edit /etc/asterisk/oh323.conf and add the ip address of your avaya in the gatekeeper config
You need an IP Endpoint licence in avaya.
Problems I still need to find solutions :
- I've got no ringback sound when a call come from the avaya and ring to an asterisk extension
NOTE: I did bridge an asterisk server using a T1 card to the ip office and it fixed almost all my OH323 problems.
I would say oh323 is the cheap solution (that may be buggy too), and T1 is very reliable but more expansive. If you're doing this for your personnal growth, then its okay, but for a production box I would go for T1
Thanks for the info. Do you know how the end point license works ? is it per vcm or per scn connection ? I think this is my problem for my ipo does not have this license. I am also trying to get this to work using asteriskwin32 version. The open h323 is rather confusing and i dont know linux at all. Just trying to get some basic SIP training before it becomes the standard. I understand IPO is set to be SIP compatible in 07.
Francis, I went ahead and took your advise on the upgraded codec g729 and also purchased an avaya endpoint license. I got the thing to work intially by allowing all in my 00h323.conf and using autoselect in the ipo. It didnt sound that well so i proceeded with the above upgrade and now when my phone rings i dont connect with the other end. I tried both flavors of g729 in the ipo and still nothing. Can you give me advise on getting my new codec to work. Any configs to assist will help as well.
