IPO caller ID issue

When a call is placed from one extension to another, all is fine, i.e. 2009 calls 2005, 2005 sees the call is from 2009.

When a call is placed to the DID number, (7 digit) the Caller ID gives the same name all the time. 2009 calls 555-5555, which is the DID for 2005 and Dave Smith shows as caller id.

This happens anytime they dial a DID from an internal extension. To all extensions. So 2005 calls DID for 2009, Dave Smith. 2001 calls 2036, Dave Smith shows up.

Calls from outside ID just fine.

We can't find the name Dave Smith in the system anywhere.

I already asked why they would be calling 555-5555 internally when 2005 is shorter and it doesn't use PRI resources, but that is another issue.

The names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Any ideas where to look for this?? I looked in ARS, user setting, trunk settings.....

See tracing in System Status and then Monitor - on which stage [Dave Smith] is appears?
Or not appears? - in this case you have to ask your provider about [name]

If you are in the states the provider is in charge of caller id name. The system can manipulate the number, but the name is then attached by the provider.

is there a matching directory entry?

reprogram the system so that anyone dialing an on system DDI gets rerouted internally (or if you are feeling nasty routed to the Finance director so they can explain why they are wasting company money :) )

TelecomBoy,

That is what I first thought, but a call from anything outside the system works fine. From a cell phone or an office up the street. It is only when someone on the system dials the full 7.

Do you mean a call to anything outside the system works or a call from outside the system sends the correct caller id to the system?

As said, do a monitor trace.

What is displayed when you call your mobile from this office - I wonder if it is Dave Smith?

Obviously for Mobile I mean Cell :)

My understanding is that calls made to the outside work fine. Only when a DID is called from inside the system does the problem exist. Will monitor and see what is happening.

as suggested previously , check your directory

when you dial out & back into your system (A stupid idea as also previously stated) the system will receive you own number a its inbound CLI
if that number is in the directory it will alpha tag to that name.

I have a Mars Bar here that says this is the problem you are seeing.

Although the question is why would you call the DID if you wanna get to an internal extension?

Make a shortcode that transforms DID numbers to internal if they insist on calling them, otherwise they take 2 trunk channels for no good reason and in worst case you pay for the call.
