Hi Guys,

Been having major problems with our IP handsets so our system maintainer came out, wiped the programming, updated the system software and re-programmed the system from scratch. IP phones seem ok at the moment but our hold music (MOH) just won’t work, first we had the naff internal music so I changed everything back to "ext music 3" but all I get is silence, I have tried all the external inputs but I still get nothing :( The settings in PGM142 & 160 & 171 are all correct but I'm stumped, any advice guys?

We have had problems with the system since day one and have lost all confidence in our system maintainer, soon as we are out of contract we will be moving to another company. I’m not convinced it’s programmed correctly and I don’t think we are on the latest versions of the system software either!

Any help/advice will be much appreciated.

Cheers guys
Dan

Hi Dan,

Which system do you have ?
DO you have a CD/MP3 player attached to the external MOH port.

If you dial TRANS/PGM 73 from your handset you can test each BGM (Back Ground Music) port.
Dial 00 - turns BGM off
Dial 01 - Src 01
Dial 02 - Src 02
etc

Do you hear your MOH playing?

Regards
Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for replying, im off work until Monday now so cant give you the full specs until then. I have a pc connected to the external MOH port, thats not at fault as its outputting sound fine and ive also checked the cable too. I'll try what you sugested from my handset too when im back in work on Monday.

Cheers
Dan

This thread seems in good hands. Also check your cabling. What s/w did you upgrade from, and what s/w do you have now?
[Trans/Pgm]+72 reads this out to a keyset with display.

You could " loose all confidence in your system maintainer", but not to this excellent product!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies and sorry i have not replied sooner myself. Ok the current software versions we have are:

System - LDK-300 Office
MPB - UK30P-3.7Dh DEC/07
VOIB - GS30H-2.1Cb
LIP-7008D - SW Version 10Da (28/DEC/05)
Boot Version 1.0Aj

The MPB version before the re-program/upgrade was:

MPB - UK30P-3.6Ca APR/06

Since the upgrade the IP phones seem ok but this has happened before when they have run fine for a few weeks then started playing up again so too early to tell yet. Are we running the latest SW versions as DEC/07 sounds a bit old as does the DEC/05 for the IP handsets, Not sure about the VOIB cards as there isnt a date on them?

Steve: I tried what you said on my phone, soon as i hit "3" for BGM i get an access denied message, my handset has admin enabled so am i missing something?

Doktor: I have every confidence in the system itself and am quite happy with it, sadly it was installed and still currently maintained by trained monkeys!

Cheers guys
Dan

Hi Dan

I checked your s/w levels:

System - LDK-300 Office --> Excellent!
MPB - UK30P-3.7Dh DEC/07 --> OK (s/w 3.8 and 3.9 exist also)
VOIBE - GS30H-2.1Cb --> OK (This board is a VOIBE, not VOIB)
LIP-7008D - SW Version 10Da (28/DEC/05)--> Could be 1.0Eo...
Boot Version 1.0Aj -->OK

Check also this link:

It was wise to upgrade from s/w 3.6 to 3.7Dh!
You can give us a status report after a while...

The link above is in Russian but with IE8 you can easily translate to English...

With IP phones (and maybe PC applications) it is important to have proper grounding of the ipLDK-300.

Hi Dan

BGM (Background Music)
Description
A user can listen to BGM through the speaker while handset is on-hook and the line is in an idle state.
Music from the source is heard over the station speaker and will be automatically shut-off when a call or paging
announcement is received, or when the station is off-hook.
Operation
To assign background music at a station, perform the following Steps:
1. Press the [TRANS/PGM] button.
2. Dial 7 3;
3. Dial 01 or 02 , 03 etc ,the available music should be heard.

The VOIBE software is good.
The MPB could go slightly higher - 3.8, as could the LIP-7008.
Hope this helps
Regards
Steve
