First install after course and I can't believe I have forgotten which attribute to change to activate the voice mail. I have VSF access enabled in station attributes but can't access voicemail.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. This time I'll write it down.

Thanks

You need to make a group in PGM190/191. This group should have the type of VSF. VSF is Voice Storage Facility.
After having programmed this group you can dial in and record your welcome greeting etc.
(In our country we have asked LG to make it as a default that group 620 is the voice mail system, VSF).

Well I guess I'm proving that "if you don't use it you lose it"

I have set Group 620 to 'vsf-vm' in PGM190
I changed retention time in PGM191 to '10 days' and I have enabled 'vsf access' in station attributes but still no go. I just get fast busy when trying to acces voice mail.

What else am I missing.

Thanks again.

Yes, there are a few others...

PGM113 – BTN 2/ (VSF Access) set to ENABLE for all phones. (IP, digital and analogue).

Also in PGM227:
Station Authorization Code Table in PGM 227 should be programmed for all phones. (IP, digital and analogue).

Also program a number in the DDI series for the VSF in PGM231.

Now you should be up & running!

Who did train you? LG-Ericsson official training course?

Yes I had a 3 day LG-Ericsson course back in August which was too short and I have not touched one since.
My fault that I didn't write enough notes down. They went through alot of material in those three days and I thought I would remember it.

I'm a Nortel installer....trying to get used to LG-Ericsson.

I appreciate the assistance to get back up to speed.

You need to work "almost" every day with these PBX installtions since they are so vendor specific.
But there many good hints here in this forum!

Hi Doktor,

Yes I know what you mean. I worked with Nortel systems every day and you get to be very familiar with the programming & trouble shooting but since there is no more Nortel I decided to switch to the LG-Ericsson products. I like them better than Avaya, Panasonic, Toshiba etc. I have installed a few ipLDK-60 systems with no problems and my customers seem to like them.

Now I am trying to install an iPECS LIK 50A.
It's just a simple setup with 4 analog trunks and six 8012 i.p. telephones and one 8024 i.p. telephone but the voice mail does not want to co-operate. I have reset the system and have just two telephones plugged in right now.

I have programmed the following:

I have group 620 programmed as vsf-vm in PGM 190
I have station 100 as the attendant in PGM 164
I have VSF access enabled for all telephones in PGM 111-113
I have authorization codes programmed for all sets in PGM 227

Now when I press the 'msg' key on any telephone the display says 'invalid' and I get a fast busy tone.

I can record a main system greeting from stn 100 by pushing the 'Trans/PGM' key and dialing '06' and then record the greeting in '001'. I can call in to the system and my greeting will play. I can set up the 'CCR' and transfer to the individual telephones.
I just can't access the individual mailboxes from the telephones.

I can't seem to see what I am missing to make this work.

Try dialing 620 manually. You should then be asked to enter your password. Remember password is your extn number plus the relevant code in pgm227.

Pressing Msg will only work when you have a message waiting.

Ahh that did the trick. Thanks Eats!

I just needed to explain how I was trying to access the mailbox. I thought it was the same as pressing the 'call back' button on the LDK digital sets.

My problem was that on the course I took it was mostly watching a power point presentation for training and using the off-line web admin to do various programming exercices. Not a lot of actual
hands on with the telephones.

So thanks to everyone that responded. A star for everyone.

Nice to hear that the problem has been solved.
Voice mail in connection with iPECS is different from other LG-Ericsson products like the ipLDK's.
With iPECS you need to program the group. This is not needed with ipLDK. Seen apart from the group it works almost in the same way on the LG products.
Like iPECS voice mail most "bigger" PBX run their voice mail part.
