ipc$ on win98 client

Lately when I shut down some win98 clients, I get a message that 1 user or even 2 users are still connected. The 98 clients aren't sharing anything folders or printers. It has even happened on newly installed win98 box. I lauched net watcher on one 98 client and it said that one of our nt server was connected to ipc$. It seems random. Any ideas?
