I thought I had set my IP406 up with a certain ip address... however, i am unable to reach it at that address.

When i run manager and set it to 255.255.255.255, it cannot locate the system. I am guessing i might have typod and given it an IP on a different subnet.

What do i do from here? any way to factory reset so i at least know the ip?

thanks

before you go through that check a couple of things.

1. Make sure you changed your IP Address on your NIC to be in the same LAN as your unit.

2. In Manager go to file, preferences, edit and put in the IP address you 'think' you put in and highlight it and try again.
If this doesn't work I'll post what you need to do.

Connect your PCvia serial cable to the IPO, start Hyperterminal 38400,8,N,1 and restart the IPO.
In Hyperterminal you will see a lot of messages passing, one of then displays the IP address in hex format.
usin the Windows Calculator to change the hex info into decimal info, two nibbels a time of course.

Its like this: Lan1 = 0a2f1105
the first two (oa) is the highest part of the network etc.

You can do a factory reset true the DTE-Port using Hyper-terminal.

Erasing the Flash Configuration This process erases the configuration held in the IP Office Control Unit's Flash memory.
Power on the Control Unit and press the escape key every second until you get a Loader message. Below is an example. P2 Loader 0.7 (4MB-2xLV160 Flash-120nS SDRAM-10) CPU Revision 0x0501
4. Enter AT (note upper case). The Control Unit should respond OK.
5. Enter AT-X2. The Control Unit should respond 0x0200C000H Erase.
6. Enter AT-X3. The Control Unit should respond 0x02001000H Erase.
7. Switch power to the Control Unit off and then back on. Within the terminal program you should see various messages as the Control Unit performs various start up tasks. See "DTE Port Trace of Defaulted Unit Reboot" on page 5 for an example.
8. Close the terminal program session.
9. You can now use Manager to alter and then upload an old configuration file or receive and edit the Control Unit's now defaulted configuration.

But easyer is to use etherreal.
Do a Capture and open Manager and search for a IP-Office.
If you open the capture you will see the ip-adres of the IP-Office.
Don,t work for 412 because its a switchpoort.

Greets Peter

Give your self a IP-adress open manager do a broadcast

Sometimes when they get erased they automaticall switch to DHCP client (it says this when you are connected to the DTE port)

File/offline/open config
this will read the backup copy of your cfg file so that you can check what IP address was sent to the system.
if you still cant get in then it is the DTE port to erase cfg

Only erase the cfg (AT-X2 AT-X3 there is no need to erase the firmware!

thanks ip guru! i got the config open and the ip is 192.168.1.20

now i can get it taken care of.

thanks,
shane
