I'm new to this system and just recently purchased the IP400 Analog Trunk 16 to add to a system...

Questions:
1) I can't seem to find any information on programing this unit, so do I simply plug it into the Ditial system and go? Meaning will the IP office Manager automatically pick up the new Control unit and add 16 Analog lines (to the Line area)?
2) I have not plugged the unit into the expansion slot yet, but I did plug the power in and got a RED Light on the front. Is this because I haven't plugged it into the expansion slot yet or does it need programming? (If programming, how and where do I figure this out?)

Any help in getting this unit up and running is very much appreciated. Thanks

I'm pretty sure the light should be flashing green before you connect it to the IPO. Red lights are an indicator of an error.

So, are we talking DOA? I just got this IP400 unit delivered today (brand new)and haven't done anything other than plug the power in. How will i know?

There's no programming to do on the module itself before you plug it in. When you connect it to your IPO, the extensions will be created automatically. The only thing you'll need to check is that it is at the same software level as the rest of your system thru manager. If it is DOA, then the red light will not go away after you connect it to the IPO. The good news is, plugging it into your IPO won't hurt anything else if it is indeed DOA.

It's unlikely that it's DOA, especially if it's new (albeit old stock); your problem more likely stems from differing software releases between the control and this expansion unit, and it is easily corrected by an upgrade to the expansion unit.

You can check the software levels by opening manager and selecting control unit on the left - all modules should be at the same release, and if not, do the upgrade. Expansion module upgrades are relatively simple.

If its not at the same level what do I need to do to get it to that same level?

Think they need to be at version 5.1 (65).

Thanks

In manager, go to advanced-upgrade. It will see the unit and all the modules and tell you what levels they are at. Your new module won't be the same as the others but it will allow you to upgrade anything in there that isn't the same level as the version manager you're running.

Your last hope if all of this won't work.

Thanks to Intrigrant.

Capthoward,

Thanks for the info. Everything synced up perfectly today. Everything went green and made sure everything was upgraded. Programming went quick and easier than I thought.

Thanks. Again.
