It's me again. I'm still feeling my way around this phone system, I dont know a whole lot

I've got IP Softphone licenses, the software, and it appears the hardware to use it. But when I install the software on my pc, it will not log into the phone server. The system is trying to connect on port 1720 but it never does. I assume it is being blocked or is not configured properly through ASA. Can someone point me to where to check connection settings?

On the station form change IP softphone to Y. On page 2, H.320 conversion to Yes. Multi media mode to Enhanced. On page 3 add a release button.

That's the way I had the station configured... still doesnt connect...

by the way, I am using the 'Avaya Digital Telephone (via the server) with a 6416D+

is that why it will not work?

Local firewall software on your PC?

nope, still will not log in

it never really seems to time out, but the progress bar keeps cycling.

you can do "list trace ras ip-stations ####" ; ### is the station number

or list trace ras ip-address #### ; ## is the clan or station address

You should get something there for codes, if not, then the request is never getting to the PBX

windows firewall is disabled. The only thing on the machine is symantec antivirus corporate 10. I can use avaya site admin to get to the box just fine, and i can get to my audix box with message manager software, so that says to me that the network is OK

this will certainly show my newb status... tried doing those commands in ASA and says those commands are not supported in GEDI, must use emulation... what's that meaning?

You can only run a list trace from GEDI. Under the advanced tab click start emulation.

hmm

i get nothing on the first command...

ummm this sounds really stupid, i know but how do i determine if there is an ip address assigned to the phone in question?

OK...

got some help off the web, figured out I have to log into the CLAN ip address to make it work, and it does work on the digital phone thru server option...

but i cant use the acd calling buttons on the phone layout on the pc... somewhere i saw reference to IP agent... where do i get that?

From Avaya or your BP. You need to purchase the licenses + the software.

You need to use IP Agent to act as a call center agent. Check 'display capacity' to see if any are enabled on your switch. If you have the RTU you can download the client from the web.

which page of the 'display capacity' command would list these, and it would list them as what?

Last page or next to last page.
