I have a user running Windows XP Home SP2 with Avaya IP softphone version 4 with SP3.

I have installed about 25 IP Softphones and never had this problem. The user cannot call out or answer calls.

The user can login into the Avaya IP Softphone just fine. If you try to enter a number from your keyboard into the Number box on the Toolbar, the number appears but the response is "Call Cannot Be Completed Try Again."

If you click on the Dialpad and try to click on the numbers with your mouse no number appears in the box and nothing happens.

If you bring up the picture of the phone and try to click on the numbers on the phone nothing appears. You can click on the speaker button and it will take the phone off hook but you do not hear a dialtone.

If you call the extension the caller information appears on both the phone display and the toolbar but if you try to click Answer or click on the line in the phone display nothing happens the phone just continues to ring.

You do hear the ringing on he PC when someone calls the extension.

I have logged into the user extension on my own laptop and can dial just fine so I do not believe it is switch related.

I have tried to login to other IP Softphone extensions that I know work and still have the same dialing problem.

I have disabled the Windows Firewall and removed all McAffe components from startup.

I have tried it in both Road Warrior mode and Telecommuter mode. I have tried it with a headset and without a headset uing the PC speakers. Still can't dial.

I have uninstalled the Avaya IP Softphone and reinstalled it. Still same problem.

I've searched the Avaya site and the Microsoft site to no avail. PLEASE HELP. Thank you

have you run a list trace on the extension when trying to make or receive a call?

The extension works just fine when I log into it from a softphone on a different computer. I'm pretty convinced it's related to that specific pc but I've run out of ideas of what to try to do to fix it.

Hvae you checked the dialled number settings?

Yes, that's fine. I can login with the extension I am having problems with on an IP softphone on another computer and everything is fine.

What codec is being used ? What's the bandwith setting in the softphone and which medpro are you using ?
