Hello All,
Just have a question. We have remote IP phones at a remote site. It is connected to a G700 that connects to our Host 8720's. In the past, we have always setup the IP phones in option 176 to point to a CLAN that belongs in the S8720 site. Wouldn't it be feasble in option 176 to point to the LSP to act as Local CLAN resources. Reason being is that if lose our links to our host site, the IP's stay up. Thoughts?

I sounds like a great thought in theroy. I wanted to do the same thing. However, the 8300 is passive and will not accecpt registration until it is in LSP mode (The primary pair wants to have complete call control). You can put the LSP address in you 176 option, but the phone builds a list of registration devices anyway. The phone will only use the Clan for signaling and will use a local G700 gateway for DSP resources, so there are no worries.

If you have not tried it, do a "list trace station XXXX" and have on of the remote phones go offhook. You can see everything that is happening on as far as resources and codecs.

Will be happy to ge into more detail if you like.
