Hi Guys
IPO500v2 REl9.0.0.829
VMpro. 1xportal
BRI lines

I Have a strange issue were as when you do a simple merge such as changinging a name or simple user changes, the 9608 IP Phones will reboot.
The Actual IP Office stays up because my SSA is still connected and i see the ip phones going down.

Its not an Immediate reboot...system stays up, lines stay up.
Has anyone seen this before

Yes I did but I cannot recall why and which version :) I know it was fine after an upgrade.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

If I upgrade the ipo to 9.0.4 will I also need to upgrade the vmpro and 1xportal

Not necessery to upgrade any application if you stay within the same build ( like 9.0.xxx )

That's good to know.

I didn't fancy the idea of upgrading vmpro and 1xPortal

To be honest i would upgrade them too.
Ugrading VMPro is easy but upgrading One-X Portal is even easier and quicker.
But you should always make backup's.

Could it be that you have a config that doesn't close when you make a save and you just make the change every time?
If that is the case you probably are missing the extension for the IP phones and that forces them to re-register every time.

I am not to sure what you mean by that....

Do you mean when I do a change then make the manager software close so as I will have to pull back the new config to access it.

No I must admit I normally have my laptop prefferences set not to close on save.

I have always done it like that and never had any issues.

But that's worth a try.

The reason for that is that you need to open a new config with all the latest changes and additions (IP Extensions if added) so that when you upload the config they don't have to re-register.If you open a new config from the IPO and then make a minor change and merge it the IP sets should not reboot. If they do it is a real bug
If the IP phones reboot when you make a change to an open config and upload it then they may have registered and created the IP extension portion after the config was opened and then this is what happens, they reboot.

Ok thanks for the info.

I must admins when I had arrived on site I opened the manager and got a new config.
Made the changes, merge and ok.
Ip phones reset or reboot..system stays up as lines are there.
No LEDs flashing , only the polling led on each combo card.

I plugged straight into the back of LAN 2 .

The customer has the same issue when he merges any simple changes.

The problem has only started recently within the last month.

I would upgrade to 9.0.5 as the early 9.0 had some peculiar workings

Yeah that's what I thought...that's what tipeter says.

Strange it's only just started..

I will need to arrange a time slot with the customer.

Thanks for the advice.

Try to turn off Auto-create Extn on LAN1 if it is turn on. I had the same problem with 9641 phones.

Funny enough someone else suggested that to me. Turn off auto create.

I will try that.
