yesterday we had a issue with our phone system as we were not able to dial any numbers beginning with 01634.
We notified BT hat there was a fault with our system and we had the lines checked which come back clear. I then spoke to someone who told me to dial 1280 before 01634 and this worked. He then said its probably your other phone provider.
I then did some digging and discovered an extension was created named 01634.
We then asked around the IT Department to see if anyone had made any changes to the phone system which no one had. However we later discovered with the IP Phone if they are logged of when you log in it creates an extension. However someone must have began dialling that number without realising.
Is there anyway to prevent this from happening again. e.g. once a phone is setup add a restriction to say it cannot create a new extension ?
