IP Phone compatibility 2

I came across a new Nortel phone I've not seen, an 1165E IP phone. Does anyone know what RLS of software I need to run these? I'm running 1140E's right now on my CS1000 (RLS 4.5), programming them as i2004's. The 1165 has more line buttons though (8 vs 6 on the 1140). I'm hopefully going to be doing a PBX upgrade sometime the second half of this year to whatever is latest (7.5 or 8 maybe?) but would love go get a few of these phones before then. There was a post on here about the version for 1165 - I think I recall it as 5.0 or 5.5 minimum required. If you do a search you should be able to locate it Sorry too busy or I would spend a little time looking.

5.0 does not have the 1165 in it.

Minimim version for 1165E support is CS 1000 5.0. You need 7.0 or above to support the extra keys.

Thanks for explaining Gweb!! I knew it was your post I read, but I couldn't remember exactly where quickly enough to spend time looking for your other post where I read that 1165's worked with 5.0 - good to know the extra fact that in order to use the extra keys you need 7.0 Star again for you.

I was looking for the best deal on these, and came across a vendor whose description listed the 1165 as backwards compatible with 4.0 but you lose 2 keys since they are programmed like a 1140 (i2004 on the switch)....

Note that a patch (MPLR28567) is required to ensure that the IP Phone 1165E is recognized
properly on the CS1000 R5.0 and R5.5 releases. Also, it is required that the Element Manager
is updated with a currency file that includes the 1165E. An updated Currency File has been
created that includes the IP Phone 1165E software, and is posted on the Nortel Technical
Support portal.
