We have an OLD cisco call manager that we are looking to retire and replace with an IP office. Rather than relocate the PRI circuits into the IPO, we would like to see if we can create H.323 trunks to our existing Cisco VG200. Is this possible, and can anyone point me to configuration instructions? Thanks in advance.

I might have to take from the silence that the answer is no?

You can trunk between IPO and Cisco but honestly I wouldn't bother. Just move the PRI to the IPO and it'll work all day every day.

The problem is that we want to set up version 5 with Fallback SCN. If the PRI goes strainght into the console, I believe we woulud require multiple redundant PRI circuits from the carrier. Or have the users move a cable. It's not so redundant then.

Possibly, I would appreciate your input. I was told that redundant SCN allowed an entire console to go down and all phones (within 3 minutes) to reconnect to a second "warm spare" IPO which has a redundant configuration. If the PRI is plugged into the first, logically I assume that that PRI is out of commission.

I need the PRI to still be usable on the second console. If both the primary and seconday IPOs have H.323 trunks to the same Cisco VG200 gateways then I am hoping that access is not interrupted. We currently have 2 redundant VG200 gateways with 2 PRI circuits configured for a Cisco call manager we are removing.

Removing them seemingly requires me to order 2 additional PRI circuits. 2 for the primary IPO and 2 for the secondary.

What if the Cisco stops working ?
Then a redundant ipo is useless!

The VG200 gateways have proven more reliable that the IPOs in the past, that is why my manager is demanding this redundancy in the first place.

This is something we are only considering and I am looking for confirmation as to whether it is possible or not, although I do appreciate the comments on design..

Another reason for considering this is the possiblility of sharing the gateways between the Call manager AND the IPO for the transition period.

From my research I am gathering that the VG200 gateways do not work inependently and need a call manager to control them. Does anyone have experience with VG200 gateways who can weigh in??

Do a search for isdn spliters.
They do excist so then you do not need those Cisco boxes.
The ipo is very reliable but can be unstable when programmed wrong !
Cisco crap manager is a unstable product which not even comes close to the ipoffice !
Cisco should stick to networking which they are good add.

Wow, I see that the Avaya/Cisco debate is just as volatile as the PC/MAC debate. I appreciate both companies. ISDN splitter, I will definitely check that out. If a single T1/PRI can be split between 2 systems then you've probably answered my question.

I have read about them.
I think I am not the only one who thinks bad about the CCM :-)
