We have just installed ip office 500 v4_2_4 but cannot find the ip office smdr application that captures call detail records from the phone system. I found an installation and reference manual that says this should be on the IP Office administration CD. Is this application called something else on the newer CD's? According to the installation manual there are no licenses required to use the SMDR features - so I don't need to buy any software to get this data. I plan to use excel or access to analyze and report on this data. Also, I have created a simple TCP server that captures this data fairly well, but the smdr application may be a better option.

Thanks, I did install the delta server that I found on the admin CD. So there are no license fees for using this?

4_2_X supports SMDR direct from the PBX - set this in System Tab - SMDR. Point to IP address and port. The smdr output from the pbx gives more info, e.g. if a user has call forward set an entry is created for each call out against the user. Delta does not do this. TimPro is good but they have TimPro+ now which is a smaller version of TimEnterprise, not much in the difference between Pro + Pro+.

Lot more features on + though.

Thanks for all the help! I installed Delta Server and had it create log files of all the call activity. Exactly what I was looking for. And licensing is not an issue either, whew!

I plan to have a simple process that automatically transfers the csv files into a database that I can use to create custom reports for. Does the timpro software provide any more data than I could get from the SMDR output?

Yes, as TheTaker says, Delta server does not log forwarded calls against uers so if they forward their calls to Australia and rack uo a huge bill you can't see who it was, with SMDR to a Call logging app such as TimPro if shows that forwarded call.

Doesn't Delta server capture the SMDR data and pass it to third party call logging applications such as TimPro? Or does Timpro have it's own TCP Server built-in to it so that it can capture the data directly?

It's sent straight out the IP Office to an IP address and port(TCP) you specify, the Call logginng software (TimPro) listens on that port and logs from the live data, Delta server is not used at all.

Chronicall's Cradle to the Grave is a call logging package which connects directly to the pbx on the Monitor Port and creates its own entries rather than waiting for IPO to send it's version, if you know what I mean!
