IP Network-Wide Virtual Office - Problems 1

IP network-wide virtual office appears to be a solution to the needs of some of our employees. In order to try it out, I attempted to program my phone to enable login and logout. The phone is an 1140, which is programmed as an i2004 on our CS1000M MG system with release 4.0.

In the Features and Services NTP (553-3001-306B2), the implementation section says to program the phone from LD 11. That NTP says the system will prompt for CUST, then BUID, then MOTN. It also says to change CLS to VOLA and VOUA.

When I programmed my phone, it does not prompt for CUST, BUID, or MOTN, but instead NUID and NHTN. So I programmed in NUID with what I would have programmed BUID (82212396), left NHTN blank, entered a SCPW, and changed change CLS to VOLA and VOUA. With that, I am able to login but not logout; it never gives me the option to logout. If I add in my TN in NHTN, the result is the same, except that whenever I login the display gives me the error code "INVALID ID(3)" but still logs me in. Powering off the phone and powering it back on will not log me out.

I have also outed the set and programmed it from scratch, with the same results.

Anyone have any suggestions as to a solution?

I also have some questions about using this feature:
1) If I Iog into a set that is already logged in, will it dump the current programming and log in with my programming?
2) Can I be logged into two different phones at once? If not, if I am logged into set A and later log into set B, does it log me out of set A?

I have never used BUID, MOTN, or NHTN - leave these blank unless you are working with a branch office or SRG.

The only changes you should need to make in the PBX to allow virtual office login are to assign an SCPW to the phone you want to log into, and cls VOUA.

On the phone you want to log in from set cls VOLA.

In NRS you will need to make sure the Network Connection Server enabled check box is checked. for the each endpoint that you want to use virtual office in.

In Element Manager you will need to make sure that in your node configuration under H323 GW Settings that the Primary NRS address is entered in the 'Primary Network Connect Server IP Address' field, and the Alternate NRS IP address is configured in the 'Alternate Network Connect Server IP address' field.

To answer your other questions:

If someone is logged into phone 1234, and someone else logs into the same set, the person logged into x1234 is automatically logged out.

You can only log into 1 phone at a time. When you are logged into a phone, and you press the 'Services' button, you should see 'Virtual Office Logout'.

NUID and NHTN is only used for Controlled Load sharing or Geographic Redundancey 1+1, basically where you have 2 Main Offices and one is the back up to the other. The invalid id 3 error you get when you program these prompts is because you are telling it to go to another main office for registration and it can't find one hence the error.

For VO its just the class of services that are required. VOLA on the set you want to Login to and VOUA on any of the sets you want to login with.

As allenmac said if you are logged into a set and someone else logs into the same set you are kicked.

That works. I was able to login to an alternate phone in this system. I was also able to find another system that had the Network Connection Server checked in the NRS, and was able to login to a phone there over the network.

Thanks for your help!
