I just installed 3 new 1100 series IP KEMs on a BCM 400 R4.0. They are all getting power but none of them are working. Any ideas? All help is appreciated.

What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

Are you using POE or external supplies ?

Could be a patcj issue,

BCM.R400.SU.SYSTEM.011_BCM_4.0

Expansion Module for IP Phone 1100 series is now supported with BCM4.0
Q01578700-03

So if you don't have this Smart update it won't work.
N.B there are dependencies

I installed the patch and still having the same issue. ANy ideas what is going on? Am i missing a setting somewhere?

Are you using POE or external PSUs ?

I believe that you need to use external PSUs for additional power as the POE does not offer enough.

I am using external power.

Are they programmed as CAPs?

Adversity is Opportunity

Under system programming I setup the extensions under CAP/KIM assignments. Anything else I'm missing?

No need to be assigned as cap/kim unless you program trunks on it.Su11 should had fix your problem. What's the UTPS version on your bcm? That utps patch "BCM.R400.168-UTPS" was fixing the problem and there's a newer one now "BCM.R400.191-UTPS. You might give it a try. POE is enough to drive the KIM but you wont have the backlight on it.
