So we're installing an IP DECT system onto a customer using a 406v2 running version 5.0.26. I've NEVER messed with this stuff before and I'm running into all kind of issues. I've got 2 antenna bases and I've managed to set the Master/Slave settings. Every doc I've found is either too new or too old. Can anyone point me to an install guide relevant to my version ? Thanks in advance.

Eli

Which IP sect system do you have?

Sorry for the later response. I'm using an Avaya IP-DECT IPBS2, according to the label on the box it came from. I just tried starting the installation process over today and redo the steps, beginning with defaulting the base units. (I have 2 of them) Now, things have gone from bad to worse. The LEDs on the antennas just continuously blink blue and they never obtain an IP address from the network. I tried plugging directly into the base unit and brousing to it's default address of 192.168.0.1(according to the doc) but I still can't get into it. Btw, I defaulted the units by pressing the RESET button for 10 seconds, as stated in the doc. Where do I go from here ? Do I have to replace them now ?

I don't think these are supported on 5.0 but that should not problems.
Remove the ipoffice from the network and turn DHCP on.
Then connect the base station to it.
It will get an IP address from the ipoffice.
Then configure it as as master base station.
Set the static IP address.
then connect other base stations.
This works, done it before.

Thanks for responding again. So I did exactly as you instructed but the results were the same. The antenna base unit simply will not stop flashing. The LED turns blue like it's attempting to get an ip address but it blinks blue forever. Again, this all started when I attempted to start the config process from scratch and defaulted the unit by holding the reset button for 10 seconds, as instructed in the doc. Is my unit just trashed ?

No it is not trashed.
Do you have an ipdect trunk configured on the IPO?

Yes I do. Finally found a desent manual for this thing at ascomwireless.com to explain what the light flashing means. It's saying that the start up phase, waiting to be initialized by the IPBL ? Not sure what that means.

This means that it is not configured as the master yet.
There is not much different then the old base stations.

I always set it staticly and then reboot it.
Then i enter the name and password and set it as a master and sync master.
Then i enter the trunk settings and check all again.
This should do it.
But i forgot something today and it did the same.
I forgot to configure the IPDect line on the IPO :)

But, because it never stops blinking, I cannot get into the unit via anything. It's not being seen on the network and I can't get into using it's factory default address of 192.168.0.1 either. It just seems stuck in limbo. I read about possibly getting into the unit using something called a "gwload" software ? Ever hear or tried using that ?

I would try and reset it again then power it up using a power brick not POE and let it not get an IP address, it should then default to the 192.168.0.1 address, then connect directly to it using your laptop (not on network) with a statically assigned address on the same subnet.

The main issue I have when setting these DECTS up is the base stations do not reset properly on most occasions.

I finally got into the unit ! I had to call tech support for Ascom but here's what finally did it in case you run into this issue:

-I defaulted the unit by holding the RESET button for 10 sec.
-The LED flashes slow blue and then turn solid yellow.
-Power cycle the unit
- Set my laptop to 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0
- Plug into LAN port
-Quickly press and release the RESET button on the base unit.
- Open a web brouser and type in -Login with default password of admin/changeme

Thanks for all of your input. Have a good one and God bless.

Good luck with configuring it :)

You set your laptop for the same IP address as the defaulted dect unit? and it didn't conflict?
