Folks,

I have several users who work from home that I have setup the ip communicator to use after they VPN into the network. When I installed and tested each one from inside of the network each worked fine. I have now deployed all of the laptops to the field and have two phones that will not register. All of the settings on the phones mirror the ones that work fine. I have verified the settings on the ip communicator and all looks good there as well (tftp addresses, network interface, etc.)

Has anyone else ever had this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance…

your firewall is prob blocking the ip communicator ports

-UDP port 69 (TFTP) is used to obtain phone configuration and software.
-TCP port 2000 is for skinny (SCCP) signaling.
-TCP port 80 is used to access IP Phone services.
-IP Communicator uses standard UDP ports for audio (16k to 32k or
16384-32768)

Thanks MG, but who's firewall are you refering to? I don't think it the company's PIX because other users phones work fine. Can you please clairify? Thanks.......

sorry, yes I was referring to the company's firewall...

but re-reading your post slower (lol) I see you are saying most deployed IP communicators work fine over your VPN with the exception of 2...so that thickens the plot!

While not directly the same issue, I had a problem with one user where she would start a call and her husband's VPN session would suddenly stop. I would have the users check their home router/firewall. If they are running an old one or have outdated firmware, it could be problematic.

Once I had her update the firmware for her home router, that problem went away.

We also have deployed IP Comm. but I have anoterh issues

1- One way transmission from IP Comm to IPT handset- Handset to IP Comm ok

2. For some strange reason I can dial a 4 digit number nbu tnot any longer lenghts - It uses the saem CSS as all others which are ok

3. I can not use speed dials on IP Comm

any ideas

thanks
