IP changes

I'm a sysadmin that has been given responsibilty of a SCO box tucked away in a dark and dank corner of our datacenter. My question is, how do I go about changing the IP address of the box?

Start with netconfig.


You'll need to manually edit at least /etc/hosts either before or after netconfig. If you do it after, you'll find both your old and new address in there; delete the old. If you forget that, you'll be getting portmapper messages when you reboot.

You may need to change your default route if this is a lan ip change- see faq58-1436 here for some clues as to where that might be set.

Dear Gabrayel,
Either you go to /etc directory and open hosts file by vi and change ip address then restart server Or you do it from the scoadmin--> network --> Network Configuration Manager
--> then select Modify protocol manager after selecting the SCO TCP/IP option of the Ethernet card.
That's it.
