OK, so here a good question that maybe someone can answer. I have a broadband connection with TimeWarner. I recently called to find out how much a static IP would cost and was notified that it would cost me $200.00 ( a month) BLAH!!!. Kinda sucks when I only want it for RDP,FTP, and VPN ....

Anyhow, so does anyone know if there's anyway that I can be notified that my IP Address has been changed, meaning that say i'm at work my address changes, can I have an smtp message sent to me to let me know this? I have a Linksys router, and have tried to make it keep it by specifying that it's a static IP, but that's no good...

Any Suggestions?

How about a batch file that pings your netbios name at home. Also, Ipconfig /all shows the lease life of your dhcp ip address. This would give you an idea about when it was going to change. I have a cable modem using dhcp from the local cable company, and about one in three logons there software fails to find my nic. Wrote a batch file:

Ipconfig /release
Ipconfig /renew
pause

This gets me going everytime. Batch files are handy to use. Glen A. Johnson
