hi all..

we are thinking of setting up our new business with an internal IP-based telephone system...

we have ordered for 20 7960 Cisco IP Phones, and would like to know what else we need to get the telephone system running...

this is our current hardware layout:

o 3725 Cisco router
o 3550 Cisco Catalyst Switch
o Cat-5 UTP Ethernet network
o ISDN-PRI E-1 from telco

i was wondering how i can use all this gear to set the telephone network up... are there any special router network modules i will need for both the E-1 and the IP phones..?..

also, i understand the 3550 switches support GBIC interfaces and gigabit ethernet.. any ideas how i could include that in the setup..?..

all help appreciated..

Not to be rude, but you really should consider paying for an integrator. The scenario you described is too complex to be handled over a help board like tek-tips. There are QoS considerations and a mutlitude of other trouble spots in VoIP. Too many to be handled "in-house" on a start-up.

If you choose to go with a VoIP integrator, make sure they know what they are doing. Get refences and go see their set-up and how it's working for them.

I agree with Narizz...it can be very complex...you need to have some kind of callmanager, which i don't see in your list. Plugging the phones into the switch, is not enough.

Are you looking for a PBX or key system solutiong, usually with PRI's you want at least a key/pbx hybrid..

I've been using CallManager express here lately at my house.. It works pretty decent.. Plus you can get it free if you have a CCO account..
