We have some CSR's that need to work remotely and we are designing the best solution. What we recommended was running IP Agent 5 in telecommute mode. We have not purchased the new release 5 software yet however we have a release 3 version of IP agent on site now. I installed it and can not get it to work. I have already checked the settings in the switch to make sure we have the correct rights to use, we have 5 licenses by default. So this should have worked. However, here is where I am confused. What IP address do I tell the IP Agent to connect to? We have two CLAN cards in the switch, one for the SAT and Audix, the other is dedicated to the CMS server. Or maybe I am missing something here, I keep reading about an IP Media card, which we do not have of course. Do I need this card to make the software work in Telecomute mode? My guess is the IP media card is assigned an IP address as well. But if we are not going to do Voice over IP why would it be necessary? Any help would be appreciated. Oh our switch release is 11 and we have a feature loaded G3R.

You need to connect to 1 of the CLAN board IP addresses, doesn't matter which one and you will be able to use in telecommuter mode only

That is what I thought originally, still cant connect though. Using either one of the IP addresses. Do I need to specify another port on the CLAN card? My error message just states that IP Agent V3 are not allowed to connect to this server.

If your switch release is anything higher than a V9 the IP agent licensing is version specific. If you do a 'display system customer-options' the last (or next-to-last page will show you your IP Agent authorization along with the release that is authorized. You can mix and match releases, i.e. V2 & V3 on the same switch. You may not be authorized for V5. I didn't know that there was a V5.

I am just trying to get V3 to work right now. We have not purchased V5 yet. V5 is just out now, and is what we will be buying. But we need to just see how the IP agent software works for now, so that is why we are trying to just get V3 to work. Getting frustrated, can you tell. Oh, do I need to also install another ethernet link in the switch to get this to work?

You do not need another ethernet link! You should only have to add a 606a1 type station remembering to enter a security code and then connect in telecommter mode using one of your CLAN ip addresses!

Found the problem. Of course its an Avaya thing and everything was not turned on during our last upgrade. They gave permission to use IP Agent, 5 available, turned on IP stations and stuff. However, on page 9 of the customer options it is not showing the license file for IP agent, only IP softphone and IP Phone. Go figure, everything else is turned on.
