I got a new router and ever since its been it place I cant get any pc EXCEPT my primary pc running Xp or 2k to log on to my new router, Now i have a 98 pc that has no problem, after checking my ip config on the networked pc's they will not release or renew there ip address, im able to assign IP addresses to them but they will only send data not recive this is per the status option on the right click of the "Local Area Connection", as far as going into the properties i can assign "IP" "Sub mask" and "DNS' info and it shows in the cmd prompt window but the ping fails HELPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!

Static IPS do not release or renew under XP. Also, be certain you are assigning static IPs outside the DHCP scope of your router.

For problem machines running XP Service Pack 2:

Start, Run, CMD
netsh winsock reset
Wait for a prompt that a reset of your computer is required. Reboot.

For all other Windows versions:

Download and run WinsockFix:

Can you ping the router? And you want to login to it? Is it a wireless one?

Is DHCP enabled on the router, and are the hosts set to recieve IP address automatically? IP release/renew commands only apply to DHCP configurations.
