IP address question...

We have a problem where random computers lose their internet connection only. In order to restore their internet connection, we have to go to their machine, release their ip address, go into DHCP and exclude that address, then go back to their machine and renew their IP address. Has anyone else seen this before? Is there a way to permanatly fix the problem so they don't lose their internet connection?

Did you tried permanent Ip addresses instead of using DCHP with those with the problem. It doesnt mean it will be permanent, its just to try and see what happens.. A+, MCP, CCNA

HI,

Threre is anothre way you can do these settings in DHCP Reserve the ips for those clients who are using the Internet connections.

There is option for reservations using the mac addresses for the Pc's.

I'm sorry but your question has some missunderstandings.
You are saying that you cannot access the internet. Too vague.
What is happen with your IP connection?
What options are your DNS distributing?
How's your DNS configuration?
How many DNS servers do you have?
Can you access other systems? Is it ping working? etc.

If I would try to translate what "they loose internet conenction" means, again there are missing points. When you are accessing via your browser the internet, this can be done through few ways. Are you using proxy? Are you using NAT? Are you using a router?
