i have conf gigabit ethernet with address ** ** ** * * *
when i try to assign it to the card it tells me it exsist on L2

How can i view where the address is assigned ? and then remove it from there

thanks

the port is probably assigned to a vlan..and the vlan has got an ip address. a sh run will give you the info of the vlans and should tell you in what vlan the port is.
a sh vlan will tell you as well in what vlan the port is.

CCNA, CCNP..partly ;)
