Hi all,

we will change the IP range of our network next weekend, and I tested (I used a test server and a test client) if the networker have a problem with that. Unfortunately he have :eek:/. It seems that I have to recreate every single client, but: I'm on vacation. One of my team members have to change the settings, and he is not really familiar with the networker. Does anyone know a better solution to fix it?

regards,
Oliver

Hi ofladung!
Since the clients are configured using the hostname, just changing the ip of the clients should not be a problem as long as you update the DNS/hosts files with the new info. However, the licenses on the backup server will most likely need to be re-registered, as the Host ID will probably change if the ip of the backup server changes. You will need to perform a host transfer once you know the new Host ID.

Please note that if you are changing domain as well, i.e switching from .com to .net or whatever, this will cause the backup servers name to change in NetWorker! There are some tech bulletins on Legato´s web that you need to read before attempting this.

Cheers!
Maverick

I noticed an odd thing: after the IP change the backup doesn't work any longer (I changed the host file). If I create a new client it works - the client ID is exactly the same.
The license isn't a problem in my test invironment (but it could (or will) be one on the main server - thanks for the information) - I used an eval license.

Fixed - it works. All I have to do is to wait a little bit longer after the IP address change until the DNS server is syncronized. Pffffffff! *<:O)
