Hi Everyone!

I have an issue with a web server. The server was given a public IP address, but it needs to be changed to a private IP address. The Cisco 2620 router was set to NAT inside and outside. We were able to get to the outside, but no one could get to our website. So, I had to go back the old config to make it all work again. Any Ideas on how to fix this?

Current router set up: 63.114.193.xxx 255.255.255.192 FastE numbering translated to Serial (T1) interface.

Desired router set up: FastE 192.168.xxx.xxx 255.255.255.0 tranbslated to Serial (T1) 63.114.193.xxx 255.255.255.192

Current server set up: 63.114.193.xxx 255.255.255.192
Desired server set up: 192.168.xxx.xxx 255.255.255.0

Any ideas as to why we could not get to the web page is most appreciated.

Thanks!

Post it to Cisco Router Forum ( forum557 ) so that they can help you configure static NAT (63.114.193.xxx will be translated to 192.168.xxx.xxx). They will give you an idea on how to map the rest of your pool of public IP address to internal IP's. If you happen to have 1 public address only to be use for both webserver and surfing then it's a little bit complicated, configure NAT mapping based on service like TCP/UDP port number 80 to point to internal webserver ip but I'm almost sure you have more than 1 public ip :).

Hi ricpinto!

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, the current setup does have the web and exchange server on the same box, as well as every other PC in this site using a public address, no firewall, so they are being hacked continually. So, I'm trying to make it private as it should be. We do have a Cisco PIX 525 on order.

Thanks again!
