Hi,

I am not sure if my question is right for this forum, but any way. I want to know if I get IP address of someone hiting my website. Can I get any more info about them like ..their name, or address, city ?

thanks

How do you know someone is hitting your website? Just curious about the details.

If you traceroute them, pay close attention to the hostnames of the routers closest to them. If they are hosted by a major ISP, you can often determine which metropolitan area the host is located in by the names of the routers. If it ultimately goes to a domain name that isn't very major (I mean not Sprint or Cox) then sometimes you can pull their domain registration record and give the contact on file a phonecall to ask if they can shed any light on who that particular host belongs to. Tools at should cover your tracking needs. I personally download the SamSpade lookup tool.

Just be polite to anyone that you end up contacting, and you can usually get some help. Everyone loves a goosechase.
