We have an IP Office IP 406 DS running version 3.0(59) and I can't find any info as to the significance of the "DS" in the model name. I am researching our options to upgrade this to the latest version 5 firmware as we want to use some of the latest features.

What is the "DS" version, and what will it take to bring this unit up to the current level?

Thanks much,
Tom

You best bet is to speak to your Avaya Business Partner about upgrade options.

the can go through everything for you.

Thanks for your reply. I manage multiple IPO systems in fixed and mobile installations, and we do all the programming and upgrades ourselves. This is the oldest of our 8 systems and was hoping to get some background to see if it's worth the time and expense to update this older unit.

DS = Digital station
Upgrade could go to 5 if its capable.
Needs to be a 406v2 PC08 or higher. otherwise it doesnt have enough memory

Make sure you read the notes on upgrading from 3 through to 5. its not as straight forward as it might seems

If it has POTS and DS ports on the front, it is a 406v2. If it only has LAN ports on the front, then it's a v1.

As said above, read all the Tech Bulletins to work it through. Lot's change after V4 so watch your config.
