I'm trying to upgrade the ios on my 4507 and have come into somewhat of a problem...

I put the file; cat4000-4000-i9k91s-mz.122-25.EWA6.bin in my tftp directory. Pulled the file onto the 4507 just fine. A directory of boot flash shows...

In the config I put boot system bootflash:cat4000-i9k91s-mz.122-25.ewa6.bin

Config reg is 0x2102.

I reload the switch and it comes up recycling in rommon. I set rommon to confreg 0x2101 and it boots up with the first IOS image. I can not get it to go to the correct image or even the image it was using of 121-19.EW1.bin.

What am I doing wrong?????

Thanks for your help!!

Becky

Does it give you any errors, when it boots up, before stopping @ rommon?

No, I didn't see any errors. It just cycles rebooting until I hit ctrl + C to stop the cycling.

Take a look at that image in flash ,
cat4000-i9k91s-mz.122-25.EWA6.BI , this could be just a misprint but if that filename is correct it won't boot with what you used , the syntax of the file in bootflash doesn't look correct . Config register has to be 0x2102 , also if you have more than one boot statement the required image must be at the top of the list . Also use this "boot system flash bootflash:<imagename> as the boot statement, then wr mem the config .

Thanks Vipergg!!

I changed to boot system flash bootflash and removed the other ios images and it worked!!

Thanks so much!!
Becky

hey, vipergg---look a bit more carefully at what she posted---the "N" that's supposed to be at the end (denoting a .bin file) is on the next line.
