I have been working on an Access system that uses automation to populate Word templates from a SQL Server database. Up until now, everything has been working on Office XP and has gone fairly well. We now need to roll the system out on to more desktops that have Office 2K rather than XP.

I currently have a reference in the code to the MS Word 10 object library MSWORD.OLB. This causes the application to fail on the Office 2K machines as they have MSWORD9.OLB.

I need to make the code run with either Office 2K or Office XP. The development box only has Office XP loaded. I am not worried about the Access front end, that is saved as Access 2K and should work OK. The problem is with the Word objects and how I get the system to cope with both versions.

Does anybody know how I can reference both MSWORD9.OLB and MSWORD.OLB in the application and have it run on either platform.

I am sure this must be a problem people have faced many times before, however I am struggling to find a simple and clean answer.

Thanks,
Clive

I have the answer. I need to use late binding for Word and hopefully all my problems will just dissolve.
