Hi,

My computer restarted itself last night after trying to do something on CuBase and after system restoring it to a particualr save restore point i once created, there is now an invisible file in the recycle bin, which when i tried to empty, asked me:
'Do you really want to delete the file 'WINDOWS'?

Is this file harmless or has my computer gone mental and if i delete this file, will my computer fall over and die?

By the way, i have the show hidden files and folders option on, so its not that..

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Paul

Do you have your original install media? That gives you the repair option if it really is something critical.

On the ones I service anything in recycle is history.

Hi, thanks.

Yeah, i have original disks and that, but just wanted to know if it was dangerous or just nothing before i attempt to empty the WINDOWS folder / file from the bin.

Was just curious too if it has happened to anyone else..

Hi,
Why not open the bin and look at the properties of that file ( to see an 'invisible' file,be sure the 'show hidden files/folders ' option is set..)

If it is still invisible I would be very careful about deleting it since some pointer in the disk map may have been corrupted somehow and it is really the WINDOWS directory ( not likely, but...)

Exactly! I do have the Show Hidden File / Folders option on, and its still invisible, hence why i was concerned. I can't select it, even with CTRL+A which normally allows you to..

I dunno what to do, which is why i contacted the pros :)

Hi,
One more thing to try..
Open a command prompt and navigate to the recycle Bin's location and try a DIR there...
