I have Win2000, with SQL 2000 Enterprise Manager connecting to SQL 2000. For some odd reason Enterprise Manager quit recognizing the server that I was working with. I removed the server from the group. Now when I try to issue "New SQL Server Registration", I get the following error:

MyServer - Invalid attribute/option identifier

I am using windows account info to connect to the server. I ran a trace on the server, it yields "Invalid attribute" in the log. Funny thing is, SQL Query Analyzer works fine with the server.

We removed Enterprise Manager, re-installed it, with same error. We even went as far as to re-format the machine, yet I still get the same error message.

Any ideas????

First off I just want to say....

I wish Microsoft provided more informational error messages!

I solved my problem by applying SQL Server 2000 SP-2 to my system. As it turned out, I had an older version of the SQL Server ODBC driver on my system (3.70.xx) I read somewhere on the internet that SQL Server 2000 will only work with 3.80.xx and above. After applying the service pack, I am back in business again.

I share this information with those who might have a similiar situation...
