I know that the Intuity Audix system should be rebooted every 90 days, but unfortunately my system doesn’t have a ”reboot” option. It just has Start, Stop and Shutdown. Since I work remotely, I have been unable to reboot it.

Is there anyway to reboot the server without actually being on site? Does doing a “Stop” then “Start” suffice for the 90-day refresh?

To the best of my knowledge, it does have to be shut down and then start up. I am at the R5 so mine does has the reboot option.

The 'stop and start' is not really good enough. Avaya can reboot it remotely no matter what the release, but they will charge you in most cases. Most administrators change the time to start with, then do a 'shutdown' , then have someone onsite manually start it up again.
Or you can upgrade to a newer release that has the 'reboot' option.

P.S. For the best response to a question, read FAQ222-2244. Also give the type & version of your voice mail & pbx & preview your post to make sure it is complete & understandable. Please answer all questions so that I may have the info to assist you. Leaving a post on how you fixed the problem will also be appreciated.

If you have Mach 4 or older Intuity, then you don't really have to reboot every 90 days. If u have a Mach 5 Intuity, then u have to reboot at least every 248 days or it will lock up. It is a good idea to reboot once a month to keep the time current(after setting the time) and clear out any problems. I have seen Mach 4 Intuitys run for years without any problems
The problem is that now Avayas' Tier 3 policy is not to do any troubleshooting until that 90 day reboot is done, no matter what the software load you have.
Mach 5 Intuitys have more problems than Mach 4s do. I am thinking that might be caused by Avaya considering them 'old technology' that they don't want to fix, but that is only my guess.

That’s what I was afraid of. You would think that Avaya would have added a reboot feature considering that it needs to be rebooted so often, or at least mine needs to be rebooted often. If it doesn’t get rebooted it gets a mind of its own. Thanks for the input.

They also have power strips with an analog phone jack built in. You can dial the analog line, enter a password and it turn off power. Dial it back up and restore power. You could do a shutdown command on the intuity, then cycle power via one of those strips.

I have a map5 and I always thought it was every 90 days also. Shame on me the telephone man because mine hosed up yesterday and I found zero alarms. I called denver and it was exactly 248 days since the last reboot. To the day, do you believe it?

The worst thing about the 248 problem is that Avaya fixed it in all the old loads of software, but the newest Mach 5 they don't seem to think it is a priority. Legally Avaya is duty bound to either fix the problem, or dial into hundreds of Mach 5 Intuitys and reboot them before the 248 day event takes place. When I use to work for AVaya I found every Monday morning Intuitys taking no calls, no alarm, no indications of problems other than when checking how long they had been up, it was 248 days. I wrote up all the locations for a couple of weeks and sent it up to Tier 3 Intuity to fix, but apparantly is wasn't deemed a priority.
