Hi
I have a library IBM 3581 LTO working with TSM 5.1 on windows 2000 platform. I wanT to introduce new tape on the library to be recognized by TSM 5.1. The library 3581 can read my tape barcode but TSM can't recognize these tape. What have am forget to do?

New tapes need to be label from TSM.

1. checkout libv <library name> <volume name> remove=no checklable=no

This will check the tape out but the physical tape will stay in the slot in the library.

2. audit library

3. lable libv <library name> labelsource=barcode search=yes checkin=scratch overwrite=yes

This will search the entire tape library, any unknown tapes the TSM Server will lable.

If the library is being shared.
Would be better to check out the tapes with either the bulk paremeter or have the tape ejected from the tape library.
Then run the lable libv command.

For more information about the lable libv command from the TSM Server could issue: help label libv

Good Luck,
Sias :)
