Intranet Solution 1

I am working on an Intranet solution. The intranet solution will allow users to post problems to a help desk, as well as give them access to message boards (sub-categorized by department), Chat Rooms (Maybe, depends on whether it <i>kills</i> the bandwidth, FAQS, and an employee directory. <br>
The FAQs section allows for our users to find help on their issues without resorting to calling our very small and very busy IT department (Our IT Dept. consists of myself, our Network Wizard, and our boss, the IT Manager for 70+ computers /w 100+ users). Hopefully, when this section is finished, it can act as a tutorial to new users as well. <br>

I think my structure might be helpful to some of you who are struggling with a way to introduce new users to their computer enviroment, and allow them to ease into it at their own pace. The temporary housing for our Intranet is at <A HREF="

Your welcome to use whatever you can in your intranet planning, however it will only be available to the &quot;general public&quot; for a couple days while I test it, then it will be a secure site.<br>

One hint concerning HelpDesk. If you have time (and effort) make an extra form where people can easily (with check-boxes and pulldowns) describe their problem. I've found that people won't write more than 'Come here quickly' and everything is URGENT, of course. Especially newcomers don't know the names of the applications etc. A list of typical problems or service requests helps both you and your users.<br>
