Intranet Messanging?

I am developing an intranet for our corporation, and would like to provide a messanging service to all of the users on the intranet. I am wondering if there is some way of accomplishing this using javascript or java, or if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can go about this. TIA<br>

That's a good idea. I've even installed IRCii on a Unix Box (Years and Years ago) for the Tallahasee Freenet, so I have experience with the system. Thanks allot robherc, I appreciate the input!
