InterVLAN Routing on a switch

Is there any router config required for layer 3 routing with a cisco 3550 switch? i followed the procedures from and am able to route between VLANs on the switch, but i cant ping the next hop router

i cant ping 192.168.1.101 from vlan3...is there any configuration required that isnt listed on the page i referenced?
 
As indicated over in the cisco forun where you posted you need to use static routes on each side or implement a routing protocol like ospf or eigrp.
