I have XP Professional and Norton System Works on an Duran 950 computer. I had the drives partioned for C, D, E, and F, but then repartioned them to only a C and D drive. When I did this, my virus scanner didn't work. When I tried it, it failed with a scripe error. At the same time, internet exployer 6 did not work. I would repair it and it would work until I tried to scan for viruses. I finally uninstalled Norton, reinstalled it and I can now scan for virus. However, before I unistalled Norton's I updated my XP with their patches from Microsoft.

Now I can't find IE 6. If I try to install it, it says that there is a higher version of IE on my machine. I went to add/delete programs, IE 6 is no where to be found.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Do a search for Iexplore.exe and see if you can find it.
If not check Program Files and see if it is in the Internet Explorer folder. Make sure your security permissions are correct if you are using NTFS.

If you find it, what happens when you click on Iexplore.exe?

To Reinstall IE6:

1) Insert the Win XP CD

2) Open Start / Run and type:
rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 c:\windows\inf\ie.inf

Press ENTER

If you re-install it check your IE6 for current updates.
