I am currently installing a program with necessitates Internet Explorer 6, while i have 5.0 installed on my metaframe 1.8 server... I am trying to find some information: if it would be ok to update the IE version on this metaframe server (windows 2000TSE), or if someone has done this, and the problems they have encountered, etc....

No problems at all.
I have updated from IE 5 to IE 6 w/sp1. The only thing you have to do is login to the box as an administrator and go to Windows update page.
Scan the box and it should pick up the update. It will download and install on the metaframe server (make sure it's in install mode prior to installing it).
The server will reboot and you will have to log into the server to finish it's installation. After that, you can put it back into your load balancing group.
Hope that helps.

enigma99,

Thanks for your post, we have updated the server with no problems. Thanks!

After having upgraded from 5.0 to 5.5 (IE) on the metaframe server, i am having a problem. Remote user can no longer open a new window in Internet explorer. Example: if a remote user wants to open a file in IE, IE refuses to open a new IE window in order to view the file. This is not a problem locally - only for remote users.. Any advice/help would be much appreciated.

actually, it is a general problem for everyone who does not have admin rights, so i'm thinking policies... does a new IE 5.5 installation change policies in metaframe, and what should I do to re-enable window opening?

help..
